Bio

I’m Jason Hsu, an LCSW with a deep commitment to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges. Having personally experienced the challenges and transformative power of therapy, I am passionate about supporting the Asian-American community in receiving mental health care appropriate to each individual’s circumstances. My therapeutic style is characterized by warmth, enthusiasm, and, when appropriate, humor. I maintain a client-led approach to goal setting, allowing objectives to shift and evolve as insights develop.
I spent 15 years in community mental health settings and have recently transitioned into private practice. I look forward to applying the things I learned from my time in community mental health to my clients in private practice.
Initial Session:
In our first session, I recognize the courage it takes to embark on a therapeutic journey. I ask questions thoughtfully designed to gain a deeper understanding of your struggles, your aspirations, and what you aim to achieve through therapy.
Client Focus:
I specialize in helping individuals dealing with anxiety and depression, as well as those working on assertiveness, setting boundaries, and boosting self-confidence. Additionally, I support clients who keep their symptoms or suffering to themselves, guiding them toward experiencing their emotions differently and sharing their struggles with others.
Therapeutic Approach:
I firmly believe that the core of therapy is the therapist-client relationship. I incorporate therapeutic modalities such as CBT, DBT, mindfulness, attachment theory but I customize sessions and adopt different approaches to meet the unique needs of each client.
Diversity and Inclusion:
My experience volunteering in women’s shelters fueled my passion for working with marginalized groups. I am deeply honored to provide therapy to individuals of all gender identities and sexual orientations, a commitment that has grown from my work as an ally in the pursuit of gender equality. I also have extensive experience assisting Asian Americans who have faced cultural barriers to accessing mental health treatment.
I currently accept Aetna and United Healthcare health insurance. My out of network rate is $175 per 50 minute session.
Feel free to contact me with any questions.
