Thanks for stopping by to learn more about what I provide. *Please note I can only meet with clients who are current residents of Washington State*
Our bodies and psyche can hold unconscious patterns. Often people will seek therapy once these patterns which have aided in survival, become a hindrance to their growth. I have witnessed therapy to help facilitate emotional depth, identity integration, improved self-esteem, more satisfying relationships and a sense of agency.
My therapeutic approach is enriched by both my professional and personal experiences. As a young child, I immigrated to the United States from mainland China. An experience which shapes much of my identity and ways of being in the world. I truly love serving the asian-american, chinese-american community as it is where I most feel a sense of kinship and belonging. I practice from a psychodynamic, liberation oriented framework and have 5 years experience working with people from diverse backgrounds in community-mental health settings as well as private practice. This means that despite any differences in identity, power, experience the hope is that you will feel like you can just be, in all of your complexity and eventually feel ready to share parts of yourself that are uncomfortable or typically hidden due to shame.
I particularly enjoy working with first/second generation young adults on the nuances of bi-cultural identity and relationship dynamics. My style is open-ended and process oriented which tends to be a good fit for people hoping to address long-standing issues/relationship patterns. No matter how you show up or what brings you to therapy, my commitment is that you will feel compassion, understanding and authenticity in the way I relate with you.
The process of finding a therapist can be daunting and I hope to support you in making the best decision for yourself. For more information please take a look at my website, feel free to give me a call or e-mail with any questions.
